Hello everyone!!! I am so bad at sending emails every week so here is an update from missionary land ππ€©❣️
First of all... our girl Bre got baptized this week!!! Yay!!! This day was so sweet and so special. We have been teaching Bre for about 2 months and ever since the beginning, she has been set on being baptized. I'm not gonna share too much, but Bre is in an interesting life situation and I'm not gonna lie, I was very unsure about her getting baptized. But homegirl knew what she wanted and she worked so hard to make it happen!! I shared a little bit last time about how Bre didn't know anything about God when we met her and how cool it has been watching the spirit teach her. In one of our first lessons, we talked about simple truths to hold onto to help us understand who God is. Hers was "I know God loves me" which then transitioned to "God's got me." And bre would say this literally every single day. She got up towards the end of her baptism and shared a little testimony and at the end, she finished with "God's got me" and it was so special, i was holding back so many tears π«Άπ»
With Bre's baptism this week, I have been studying a lot about covenants. Covenants are like a pinky promise between us and God and they are so sacred and so special. Mosiah chapter 5 teaches about covenants and this is one of my favorite verses from that chapter:
15) Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen.
My covenants bind me to God and that is something that will never, ever change. I am His forever. And I am so grateful for those promises because they give me hope and strength to keep doing the work that I have been called to do. President Nelson said "The safest place to be spiritually is living inside your temple covenants." I love this quote so much!!! I want to always be striving to live within my covenants because that is where I know I find the most joy.
I have another quick little miracle I wanted to share! I am sure finding people teach is hard in it's own way in every mission, but Kentucky feels especially hard sometimes. There is literally a church on every corner and there is every religion you can think of here, and a lot of people are set in their ways. So we have been having a hard time finding people to teach and when you don't have a lot of people to teach, your whole day consists of finding, and those days are SO long. But fret not, God is a God of miracles and where there is a will there is a way. We were knocking yesterday and we met this lady named Tiffany. She said that she has lived there for 5 years and that no one has ever knocked on her door to talk about Jesus. She started getting a little emotional and she just said "I've been waiting and I know God sent you" and we were like holy moly this never happens!!! She shared with us what she has been going through we were able to testify of God's love and his plan for families to be together forever. By this point the tears are just rolling down her sweet face and I asked if I could give her a hug. She said yes and I just gave her the biggest hug ever and I promised her Bre's truth, I told her that God's got her. We are going to see her later this week and I am so excited!!
There were lots of ups and downs this week and some days I really did not like missionary land but moments like this make it all worth it. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many people we teach or baptize because I am learning that God has got and because of my covenants, he's got me forever. And I know that he's got you ❣️
I hope that everyone has such a wonderful week!!! Love you all to the moon and beyond πππ
